On July 16, 2017, Michael Stone—an internationally-recognized Buddhist teacher, author, host of the Awake in the World podcast, and mental health advocate—died, having succumbed to bipolar disorder. This effort is a fundraiser for his wife, Carina Stone, and their boys.

Michael’s teaching is immeasurably influential in the shaping of my lived practice. Not a moment or an element of my life is untouched by the wisdom and curiosity he shared with his community.

He passed a month and two days after the birth of my son, Harvey, and a few months before the passing of my grandmother. My mortality has come into sharp focus in the joy, gratitude and hardship of this time.

I wanted a reminder of him and his offerings, as well as a reminder to show up in my life in mindfulness. To be awake in the world. I asked Steve St. Pierre – an Ottawa-based artist – to design a print commemorating the last line of the Night Chant.

Night Chant

Life and death are of supreme importance.
Time passes swiftly and opportunity is lost.

Let us awaken.
Awaken!
(Do not squander your life.)

You can offer a donation to download a high resolution copy of the print. There are a few donation amounts available, and you will receive a download link for the print within 24 hours of your donation. 100% of the proceeds will go to Michael's family.

I particularly want to encourage you to go here and become a Patron of Michael Stone Teachings for monthly donations and to receive more of his work through this platform. If you are a supporting Patron, please email evidence of your subscription to info@intelligentedge.yoga, and I will provide you with the print for download.

I printed an 8 x 10 copy of the print for $1.20 on matte cardstock with a professional printer. The frame is the 11 x 14 gallery frame from Chapters. My hope is that by offering the print as a digital download you can print yourself for a small amount, the cost saved of no shipping can go into your donation.

Thank you for your support in doing the needed work of supporting Michael’s family.
